Kings Park in Retford, often referred to as the "jewel in the heart of the town," is a historic and beautifully maintained public space that has been serving the community since its opening on June 29, 1938. The park was established to commemorate the reign of King George V and the coronation of King George VI. The land for the original park, stretching from Chancery Lane to the River Idle, was generously donated by Mrs. M.J. Huntsman of West Retford Hall in 1937 .
